The William Morris At Home Kitchen Collection

The William Morris At Home Kitchen Trio - the Sunlit Tomato Candle, the Hand Wash and the Hand Lotion
There’s something wonderfully atmospheric about a kitchen in use. Coffee brewing in the morning, herbs being chopped, and something slowly cooking on the hob all bring their own aromas to the room. Scent is naturally part of the experience, so the products we use can add to it too. A beautifully fragranced hand wash and lotion turns an everyday moment into something more luxurious, while lighting a candle as you cook can change the mood. The kitchen may be one of the most practical rooms in the home, but it can still be beautiful. That idea fits perfectly with Heathcote & Ivory’s William Morris At Home Kitchen Garden collection.

William Morris understood that useful things didn’t need to be boring. Born in 1834, the British designer, craftsman, writer and social activist became one of the defining figures of the Arts and Crafts movement, championing craftsmanship at a time when industrial mass production was rapidly expanding. His wonderfully intricate patterns, frequently inspired by flowers, foliage, birds and the natural world, appeared across wallpapers, textiles and furnishings, and remain instantly recognisable today. Morris believed beauty and function could happily coexist, an idea that feels surprisingly contemporary. More than a century after his death in 1896, his designs continue to find their way into our homes.

The William Morris At Home Kitchen Hand Wash and Hand Lotion Duo
That makes the collaboration between Heathcote & Ivory and William Morris feel particularly appropriate. Created with the William Morris Gallery, William Morris At Home brings archive designs to hand care and home fragrance, with purchases also supporting the gallery. The Kitchen Garden Hand Wash & Lotion Set features Morris’s Flowerpot pattern, designed in 1883, and so brings his distinctive botanical style to the packaging. I’ve seen plenty of collaborations in the past that simply put a famous print on a product, but this is so much more. The Kitchen Garden collection has plenty going on inside the bottles as well.

The Kitchen Garden Hand Wash & Lotion Set is a great example. Its Sunlit Tomato fragrance delicately captures that distinctive smell of tomato plants, rather than the fruit itself. There’s the crisp greenness of freshly crushed leaves and stems, lifted by lime, before a sweetened moss starts to appear. It feels fresh, botanical and wonderfully sophisticated, particularly when the fragrance lingers on your hands afterwards. The wash includes aloe vera, vitamin E and prebiotic chicory root extract, while the lotion adds shea butter with jojoba and macadamia oils. Used together, the scent and textures turn something as ordinary as washing your hands into a much more enjoyable ritual.

The William Morris At Home Sunlit Tomato Candle
That same fragrance continues with the Kitchen Garden Odour-Neutralising Candle, but stronger, and becomes part of the atmosphere of the kitchen. Tomato has become a perfume favourite recently, particularly the green smell of its leaves and stems, and it’s easy to understand the appeal here. That freshness feels at home alongside cooking and food. Odour-neutralising technology also gives the candle a practical purpose because cooking smells linger. Made with vegan wax and offering up to 40 hours of burn time, it comes in a William Morris glass jar that can be reused afterwards. It proves that functional can be fabulous.

The Kitchen Garden collection takes everyday kitchen rituals and makes them feel that little bit more considered. Beautiful Morris prints, clever formulations and genuinely interesting fragrances prove practical products can still bring pleasure to the home. The collection is available from the William Morris At Home website at williammorrisathome.com with prices starting from £16. [Samples provided by William Morris At Home]
