CORNISH BLOOM by Mor & Meadow

A bottle of Cornish Bloom from Mor & Meadow
Fragrance in skincare has traditionally been seen as something of an added extra. A beautifully scented cream or lotion might make the experience more enjoyable, but the fragrance itself rarely contributes to what the product is actually trying to achieve. Skincare looks after the skin, while scent appeals to our emotions and senses. However, those boundaries are increasingly disappearing as companies explore how the scented ingredients can also add to the product's potency. One new British brand taking this idea in an interesting direction is Mor & Meadow, beginning its story with the beautifully conceived Cornish Bloom.

Mor & Meadow is the creation of three founders who bring very different talents. Hugo contributes his knowledge of botany and plant science, Sophie brings an artistic eye shaped by her work as a fine artist, while Freddie's background in fragrance and luxury beauty completes the picture. Based in Falmouth, Cornwall is much more than simply the company's address; it sits at the heart of everything they do. The landscape influences the ingredients, the visual identity and even the fragrance itself. It's an area constantly shaped by sea, wind and weather, and it's this challenging Cornish environment that provides the inspiration for Mor & Meadow.

Rather than treating skincare as a collection of individual problems requiring individual solutions, Mor & Meadow sees the skin as part of a much larger ecosystem. Their philosophy is built around studying how organisms survive and adapt to different environments, then applying those lessons to skincare. The company has developed four ecosystems: Cornwall, Desert, Alpine and Rainforest, each designed around a different aspect of skin health. At present, the journey begins with Cornwall, described as the Foundation system, while the remaining three will follow. It's a very different approach from the usual skincare routine of simply adding another product whenever something goes wrong.

Cornish Bloom delivers that philosophy in a refreshing facial mist designed to hydrate, strengthen and support the skin barrier. Tremella mushroom, green seaweed and MossCellTec™ work together to replenish moisture and help skin feel resilient to environmental pressures. The mist format reflects Mor & Meadow’s belief that effective skincare should be simple enough to use consistently. A quick spray makes Bloom easy to incorporate into any routine... after cleansing, throughout the day or whenever skin needs a refresh. The result is practical, considered skincare that delivers benefits while making the everyday ritual feel special.

For me, the subtle fragrance is where Cornish Bloom comes alive. Juniper and rosemary give the opening a wonderfully fresh, aromatic quality, with something that feels immediately clean and invigorating about them. Neroli then brings a softer brightness, stopping the composition from becoming too herbal, while an unmistakable watery quality runs through the fragrance, bringing to mind the cool freshness of cucumber and green tea. It feels light, crisp and quietly uplifting, like a breath of fresh Cornish air. More importantly, that sense of freshness perfectly complements Bloom's purpose: a mist designed to hydrate, refresh and leave both skin and senses feeling restored. It really is so simple to use and, with noticeable results, has become my skincare staple as we prepare to enter autumn.

Cornish Bloom is available from the Mor & Meadow website at morandmeadow.com priced at £32 for 100ml. [Sample provided by More & Meadow]
