STEPHAN'S SIX - BUNNY GALORE

No-one really knows how old the ageing actress Bunny Galore is, but what we do known is that she was thrown out of the Rank Charm School for padding her bra and to a generation of young adolescents she was the girl next door. In her varied career she has appeared in film and tv, from Muffin the Mule to Hammer Horror, and is now a regular weekly performer at London's Wam Bam Club. Well known for her acerbic wit, it was with some trepidation that I dared to ask her "Stephan's Six".

What is the first smell that you can remember?
I really do believe that smell is the most evocative way to tap into memories, or past lives for that matter. I can't remember my first smell but I do know the scent of Kippers always takes me back to a Saturday night in the late seventies. I was waiting for Tom Baker's "Doctor Who" to start, well that's what I called it. Strangely, we probably only met the once but the memory lives on.

What perfume do you remember your mum or dad wearing?
My mother wore, and still wears, Miss Dior which dates back to the forties I think. So you can see where I'm going to end up, being the spinster that I am. That's right, Grey Gardens! [If that reference is lost on you then click here].

What was the perfume of your twenties?
All I can remember from the eighties... [I stop Bunny and point out that would make her younger than me? After a raised eyebrow and a steely glare she continues...] All I can remember from the EIGHTIES is Kouros, which sooooo many boys wore, and then CK One in the nineties. One would have to have a filter mask in one's handbag when visiting a discotheque. My blouse always ended up smelling of those fragrances for some reason [Bunny winks at me and I feel slightly afraid]. It went hand in hand with stone-washed jeans and Bros!

What was your biggest perfume mistake?
I do seem to remember once making the mistake of buying a 'fake' designer perfume. The only way to describe it was cat wee mixed with Mace!

You can only choose one perfume, what would it be?
I only wear Chanel Allure so I would have to chose that. It's a classic and quite fruity, which is what one reviewer called me. It's all I wear while hosting my cult movies, although the cameraman usually begs me to put some clothes on!

What perfume should I try?
Well Stephan, you're timeless and exclusive ... so I would suggest that you try Tweed by Lentheric. [Interestingly, Bunny was featured in the early adverts for Lentheric’s Tramp, which is shown here for the first time in forty years, but she was quietly dropped when details of her involvement in a political scandal became public].

Bunny Galore continues to host her Sunday Movie Nightmares on SKY 212 and also compères the London Burlesque show at the Wam Bam Club. For more information visit her website at bunnygalore.co.uk
