Natural Room Mists by Bramble & Blossom

The reasons for starting a company are always incredibly varied but the days of “I want to be successful and then be bought by a large corporation” are thankfully on the wane. The vast increase of new brands has diluted the industry to such an extent that it’s now very rare for smaller houses to make enough of a mark to be noticed, or even seen as a rival. When Bramble & Blossom was launched in March 2019 it was out of a desire to produce products that respected the environment and provided relief from the mass market offerings, and they’re definitely one company that is well worth noticing.

Karen Anderson had always had an interest in natural skincare and said “the first product I ever made was a sugar scrub with honey and oats when I was just fourteen.” This fascination with homemade skincare and beauty products stayed with her and eventually led to courses in massage therapy and aromatherapy. However, it was after the birth of her two children that the seed was really shown to launch a range of beauty and home products that were fully sustainable. The kitchen of the house that she shares with her husband, Nathan, was transformed into the centre of Bramble & Blossom.

One of the decisions that Karen made very early on was that she wanted the range to be natural as well as organic. She felt that this route offered her more opportunity to explore the full impact of sustainability and environmental concerns. These two factors seemed to almost lead her to the ethos of the brand, “To take inspiration from the natural world around us but also safeguard the environment for future generations.” This was also carried through into their fully recyclable packaging, a minimal use of plastic, and a refill option for all of their products with an incredible 20% discount off the full price.

Let’s touch on the issue of essential oils for one moment because it’s a subject that is steeped in misinformation. Essential oils are natural but “natural” does not automatically equate to safe. They are concentrated compounds that, if used incorrectly, can result in a myriad of serious conditions. The reason I’m mentioning this is because Karen Anderson is very clear on her website about this and actually says, “Used correctly, they can have amazingly positive health benefits and also boost well being.” This one sentence shows a clear understanding of the power of essential oils and is the reason I’m very happy to recommend Bramble & Blossom.

The two Bramble & Blossom mists are both structured in the same way, which is why they’re actually interchangeable as room mists or pillow mists. They both take a specific floral water as their base and marry it with a complimentary essential oil. The Chamomile and Lavender Pillow Mist uses chamomile water, and the duo provide an almost powdery lavender-touched floral with touches of citrus clean linen. The Neroli and Geranium Uplifting Mist by comparison lets neroli water provide an orange blossom nuance, but a wonderful vibrant geranium makes you feel as though you’ve opened the window onto a cottage garden.

The Chamomile and Lavender Pillow Mist and the Neroli and Geranium Uplifting Mist are both available from the Bramble & Blossom website at brambleandblossom.co.uk priced at £15 for 50ml. [Samples provided by Karen Anderson]
