When Geoff Percy was brought on board to try and turn around the fortunes of Bronnley, after it had fallen into administration, he came with a wealth of experience. Ten years as Chief Executive of Simple Health and Beauty had taught him the importance of a brand’s loyalty, heritage and appeal. So, I thought it was time we learned a little bit more about his own fragrance journey during “Stephan’s Six”.
I was brought up in the South East of England on a farm, so my first memory of a distinct smell has to be of freshly cut hay. That smell, even today, reminds me of my wonderful childhood; of care-free sunny days playing outside!
The first perfume I remember is Old Spice worn by my maternal Grandfather. I remember thinking how exotic it smelt, but coming from the North East it probably was in those days.
What was the perfume of your twenties?
I wore Eau Savage by Dior. It is such an iconic fragrance. I remember it caught my eye by the fact that the name reputedly came from Christian Dior’s friend Percy Savage and how purely coincidental that was!
What was your biggest perfume mistake?
I think it must be making perfume choices at first spritz and not trying things on your skin. I understand more and more how important it is to let a perfume settle and develop, and how different it smells from one person’s skin to another. I have made some questionable perfume mistakes in the past because of that.
You can only choose one perfume?
I love and wear Terre D’Hermes. A woody fragrance that somehow always makes me feel confident and relaxed.
It would have to be Wild Green from Bronnley’s Eclectic Elements Collection. We are so proud of this amazingly innovative and modern collection and Wild Green is no exception. It’s an intoxicating woody fresh scent that is perfect for both men and women. It’s leafy, earthy, leathery and has a hint of orange flower to make it refreshingly appealing.
