TRUST ME by 4160 Tuesdays

As we approach Christmas I think that it’s fair to say that we’re all grabbing hold of anything that could offer us the slightest piece of positivity after this rollercoaster of a year. Looking back over the past nine months of broken promises, shattered dreams, and worldwide chaos, wouldn’t it be great to just have somebody say “Trust me” and actually deliver? Well that’s exactly what the perfume industry's very own scented scientist Sarah McCartney of 4160 Tuesdays has done. She has skilfully combined both style and substance in a fantastic new diffuser that breaks all of the established rules, and is simply called Trust Me.

You can’t have failed to notice the multitude of new products that have appeared in the run up to Christmas. From limited edition bottles to seasonal scents, the choice has never been greater. However, sampling them has become more difficult as constant lockdowns and restrictions make it almost impossible to get your hands on a tester. So, when Sarah McCartney decided to create a room diffuser even her husband was quizzical. Nick said, “Won't everyone want to know what it smells like before they buy it?” In typical Sarah style she replied, “I know what I want to make; they're just going to have to trust me.”

The usual process when companies decide to create a diffuser is firstly to come up with the scent and secondly to find a bottle to sell it in. However, as you may already know, Sarah has a tendency to do things a little differently. In the case of Trust Me, the bottle came first. “Ever since we discovered these Spanish 100% recycled glass bottles, we've wanted to make something lovely to go in them.” So, when it became clear that people were desperate for a new scent to fragrance their homes, these versatile vases were unpacked ready for action.

Sarah McCartney
has built her reputation on creating fragrances that are both beautiful and unexpected. Finding that balance is like finding the holy grail, and it’s what perfumers try decades to achieve. Sarah has always followed her instincts rather than trends, and this is why 4160 Tuesdays has continued to exist in its own special realm of uniqueness. The process of creating Trust Me was simply that Sarah took ingredients that she’d always wanted to blend, added in a dash of her intuitive magic, and produced a room scent that is both uplifting and calming, but with a hint of autumnal herbaceous crispness.

Trust Me takes the citrus diffuser but really turns it on its head by combining it seamlessly with its aromatic counterpart. You have a refreshing lemon that works alongside a greener lemongrass, a fruity grapefruit that pairs up beautifully with a woodier petitgrain, and a wonderfully piercing bergamot that links perfectly to the herbaceous notes of rosemary and laurel. However, it’s the measured dose of artemisia and a touch of vanilla that makes this diffuser sing. They provide a vermouth warmth that is irresistible and, sitting in the background of any room, Trust Me makes you long for the time that we can socialise again.

Trust Me is available from the 4160 Tuesdays website at 4160Tuesdays.com priced at £40 for 100ml. The vases come in a various shades and so Sarah asks that you request a colour when you place the order and she will find the closest match. Trust Me is also available as a refill priced at £32.50 for 100ml and new sticks. [Sample provided by Sarah McCartney]
