And so we find ourselves at the end of another incredible year of exciting perfume releases, where variety has most definitely been the scented key word. Amber fragrances proved to be very popular this year, with quite a few new ones vying for the crown, but there were also an array of new brands that each brought with them unique philosophies as well as some really innovative processes. So, as we approach the end of 2025, it’s time to once again look back at twelve months of reviews on stephanmatthews.com and, by channelling my inner Blyton as usual at this time of the year, pick My Favourite Five.

BRIONI EAU DE PARFUM SUAVE by Brioni
Perfume is often compared to music because of the similarities found in their creation and their make up. Whether you’re thinking about “chords”, “notes” or “accents”, the cross-over is easy to see. However, there’s another industry that also goes hand in hand with perfumery, and that’s the world of fashion. When you think about tailoring, the stitching together of multiple parts to create one complete garment could easily be compared to the mixing of multiple ingredients to create one complete fragrance. This is where we find ourselves with Brion Eau de Parfum Suave, the latest exciting perfume release from Brioni.
